There's a dragon in my soul. I hope to never lose the little spark of magic in my life that allows the dragon to stay with me. Regardless of where my life leads, I always want to keep hold of magic, imagination, and the spirit of living.
Full view, if you please. Many, many hours of work went into this.
Edit: Sorry for the re-upload, guys, but the original had a lot of little flaws that were driving me nuts. This version still has a bunch of mistakes, but I feel like I can live with it more now. The spotty wings were going to be in the original, but I got distracted and forgot. So yay for spots. :-p
Great job...and I'd have to agree on the (regardless of where my life leads, I always want to keep hold of magic, imagination, and the spirit of living.)
Oooooh, I love that face, so beautiful, and such personality, so very alive. This one is gorgeous! The pose too, looks so relaxed and peaceful, and here's to that spark of magic.
Absolutly astounding beyond words, I myself have a draconic soul... but I don't think I could ever show it as beautifully as you have. And congradulations on one year at DA
You know, most artists nowadays prefer to let the viewer come up with their own interpretation of a picture, but I'm very glad you didn't do that here. In general, if there's a meaning I adore reading about how art makes the artist feel - where the inspiration comes from, what they think it means, so on and so forth. In this particular case, I doubly appreciate hearing about the way this makes the artist feel, because that helps me to further identify with the picture. It's the way I feel about Dragons. I feel cheesy for admitting that in a comment like this, because I know that's nothing to say nowadays on the Internet, but you hit the spot for many of us out here, I'm sure.
The Dragon's head is perfectly designed and captivating, to such an extent that I find myself staring at its face almost exclusively (as should be proper, I suppose). My eyes take short excursions around the rest of the composition, noting the touch of pastels tinging the darkness of the starry sky, admiring the subtle warm highlights in the grass... but always I return into that piercing gaze. I absolutely love the way you did the patterns on its muzzle, as it gives somewhat of an intoxicating complexity to its predatory visage. The golden eyes and spikes are the perfect complements to the matching colors of the scales and dark background. I'd go so far to say that the head is so good that it almost makes the rest of the picture seem unfinished, but I'll resist the temptation to get into a critique here. That doesn't seem right for something with such personal meaning. Such beauty! THE END.
Absolutely stunning, Sphinx. It really is gorgeous. The skin of the dragon looks fantastic and the detail on the head... Brilliant! One of the most beautiful art pieces of a dragon *I've* ever seen!
